Gaya Ji’s Vishnupad Turns No Pollution, No Horn, No Vehicle Zone for Pitru Paksha Fair 2025
Bihar’s Sacred Fair Gets a Pollution-Free Makeover
Every year, lakhs of pilgrims from across India and abroad gather in Gaya Ji to honor their ancestors during the Pitru Paksha Mela. This year, the district administration has taken a remarkable step to ensure comfort, safety, and spirituality blend together.
The Vishnupad temple area has been officially declared a No Pollution, No Horn, and No Vehicle Zone. This initiative aims to provide a peaceful atmosphere to devotees while keeping the sacred site clean and congestion-free.
The Big Step Towards a Hassle-Free Pilgrimage
To implement this change, DM Shashank Shubhankar and SSP Anand Kumar personally traveled by e-rickshaw from Chand Choura to Vishnupad Mandir, symbolizing the new system. By doing this, they not only set an example but also encouraged devotees to embrace this eco-friendly approach.
Importantly, vehicles are now restricted beyond Chand Choura and Bengali Ashram. Pilgrims can only reach the temple either by foot or through free e-rickshaw services provided by the administration. This move ensures the narrow temple lanes remain free from traffic jams, making the spiritual journey smooth and serene.
Special Facilities for Devotees and Seniors
Understanding the needs of elderly visitors, the administration has deployed 60 e-rickshaws in three shifts. From Pretshila parking points to Pretshila temple, special arrangements have been made so that senior citizens face no difficulty.
Additionally, at Gaya Railway Station, pilgrims will find free e-rickshaw services to different pind-daan spots. This facility will not only save time but also offer much-needed convenience for those unfamiliar with the city.
Why This Step Matters for Bihar and Pilgrims
The Pitru Paksha Mela is not just a religious gathering; it is a lifeline of Bihar’s cultural and spiritual identity. With lakhs of devotees pouring in, mismanagement can lead to chaos. However, this eco-conscious decision brings hope that the Vishnupad temple complex will remain safe, pollution-free, and spiritually uplifting.
Moreover, this effort reflects how Bihar is gradually embracing modern solutions while respecting deep-rooted traditions.
