Patna celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi today with devotion, glamour, and cultural pride. The star of the event was a six-foot replica of Mumbai’s iconic Lalbaugcha Raja, placed in the city for darshan. Devotees gathered from early morning as the idol underwent consecration rituals before being unveiled.
The Maharashtra Mandal Patna, led by Secretary Sanjay Bhosale, hosted the celebrations with unmatched grandeur. This year’s 40-foot pandal carried a unique military theme called “Operation Sindoor.” The pavilion displayed soldier figures and decorated walls, symbolizing courage and sacrifice. Moreover, over 10 tonnes of flowers arrived from Bengal, Bengaluru, and Mumbai to brighten the space.
The most eye-catching moment came when the idol received its diamond-studded crown. Brought from Mumbai, the crown weighed 350 grams and featured a six-carat diamond at its center. Valued at ₹35 lakh, it glimmered under the lights, leaving devotees mesmerized. Along with it, ornaments of gold, silver, and stones enhanced the idol’s divine presence.
In addition, several dignitaries, including the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Governor of Bihar, joined the puja. Their presence underlined the cultural significance of this festival in Patna.
The sacred pran pratishtha started at 10 am with chants and offerings. Soon after, priests led by Prashant Jagirdar from Maharashtra performed the aarti with devotion. Devotees then offered 101 modaks, Lord Ganesha’s favorite sweet, filling the air with joy.
From 11:30 am onward, the pandal welcomed visitors for darshan. Furthermore, the organizers planned a haldi-kumkum ceremony for women on August 29, adding another spiritual highlight to the celebration.
Alongside rituals, the organisers designed a vibrant cultural lineup. On August 31, bhajan singers from Maharashtra will perform soulful devotional music. In addition, on September 2, the Ganesh immersion procession will take place with unmatched energy.
A 50-member Jhanj Pathak team from Nashik, featuring 25 men and 25 women, will lead the beats. Their performance will guide the idol through Patna’s streets before the immersion at Collectorate Ghat. The combination of rituals and culture turned the celebration into an unforgettable festival for the city.
This year’s Ganesh Chaturthi in Patna showcased more than faith. With the Lalbaugcha Raja replica, the diamond crown, and cultural displays, it became a symbol of unity and devotion. Moreover, it highlighted how Bihar welcomes traditions from across India while adding its own spirit.
