₹686 Cr Boost for Bihar’s Youth & Artists: From Internships to Guru-Shishya Yojana

“Yuvaon ke liye khula Vikaas ka Pitara!”

Internships. Mentorship. Art revival. Cultural heritage. Bihar just announced a wave of people-first initiatives — and the youth, artists, and devotees have every reason to celebrate.

In a landmark Bihar Cabinet Meeting held on July 2, 2025, 24 proposals received the green light. But what stole the spotlight were transformative schemes focused on skill development, traditional arts revival, and religious tourism.

Let’s explore what this fresh roadmap of reforms means for Bihar’s people.

Empowering Youth Through Internships

In a state where opportunities often feel out of reach, the CM Pratijna Yojana is set to bridge the gap.
More than 1 lakh youth (aged 18–28) will receive ₹4,000–₹6,000 per month under this new internship scheme. Alongside financial support, they’ll gain practical training in business and career growth — skills that matter.

The program will roll out with 5,000 youths in FY 2025–26 and scale up over five years, powered by a ₹686 crore budget. It’s not just a job initiative. It’s a mindset shift.

Supporting Artists, Honoring Tradition

Bihar’s rich cultural identity owes much to its artists — and now, the government is stepping up to support them.

The Mukhyamantri Kalakar Pension Yojana will offer ₹3,000 per month to traditional, classical, and folk artists over the age of 50 with an annual income under ₹1.20 lakh. Whether in rural hamlets or urban pockets, the artists who’ve kept Bihar’s legacy alive will now get the dignity they deserve.

Reviving the Guru-Shishya Parampara

To protect endangered folk arts and ensure their transmission, Bihar has approved the Guru-Shishya Parampara Yojana. Under this model:

  • Gurus will receive ₹15,000/month

  • Musicians will get ₹7,500/month

  • Disciples will be supported with ₹3,000/month

This effort will boost training in folk music, dance, painting, storytelling, and classical art forms. It’s a masterstroke to preserve heritage and create new cultural leaders.

A Grand Janaki Temple at Punaura Dham

One of the most spiritual announcements: a grand new temple in Sitamarhi’s Punaura Dham, the birthplace of Mata Sita.

  • The total approved cost is ₹882.87 crore.

  • ₹137.34 crore will upgrade the current temple.

  • ₹728 crore will develop Ayodhya-style religious infrastructure.

  • ₹16.62 crore has been allotted for 10-year upkeep.

This project doesn’t just elevate tourism — it honors faith, history, and regional pride.
