बिहार के हुनर की नई उड़ान – जब जूते-चप्पल से लेकर जैकेट्स और बेल्ट्स तक होंगे ‘Made in Bihar’

Bihar is no longer just a land of agriculture and heritage. In just 32 months, a silent yet powerful industrial revolution has begun—70 companies have launched operations in Bihar’s leather and textile sectors, and 13,000 jobs have already been generated.

From Banka to Purnia, the state is preparing to become India’s next big leather and textile destination. And trust us, this isn’t just a dream—it’s an economic transformation in motion.

The Rise of Bihar’s Leather & Textile Industry: From Vision to Action

After the implementation of Bihar’s Textile and Leather Policy 2022, investor confidence soared. Within this short span:

  • ₹2100 crore investment proposals have poured in.
  • 70% of these investments are in textiles.
  • Exports are already reaching Nepal, Bhutan, Ukraine, USA, Russia, and Gulf countries.
  • Products include shoes, cotton fabrics, handbags, purses, and belts.

This isn’t just about exports. It’s about creating a supply chain backbone within Bihar—from raw materials to finished goods.

Banka, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur: The New Power Triad

To ensure regional inclusivity, the government is developing specific industrial clusters:

  • Banka & Bhagalpur: Textile clusters are taking shape, building on their historical roots in weaving and handlooms.
  • Muzaffarpur (Mahkal): A 62-acre Leather Park is under construction with a ₹140 crore budget.
  • Kishanganj, Katihar, and Purnia: Set to become sourcing and processing centers for leather and fabric.

And it doesn’t stop here. The state’s industry department has even studied Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur model to replicate its success with a Bihar twist.

Who’s Investing in Bihar? Meet the Brands Building the Future

Several big names and brands have already stepped into the game:

  • Savi Leathers (Madhubani)
  • Competence Export (Vaishali)
  • RKD Sports (Paliganj, Patna)
  • V2, RSCS International, Cosmos Textile, Devnit Textile, High Spirit Commercial Ventures, and Nizil are also setting up shop.

The cherry on top? Kanpur-based leather businesses are now actively considering Bihar as their next investment hotspot.

Government Push: Not Just Policy, But Partnership

Bihar’s government isn’t sitting idle. Under Industries Minister Shri Nitish Mishra, policy has been backed by real action:

  • A zero-liquid discharge system is being mandated to maintain eco-standards.
  • Investors are getting end-to-end support—from land to logistics.
  • In December 2024 alone, a two-day business meet saw 423 companies sign MoUs worth ₹1.8 lakh crore.

This momentum is not a fluke—it’s the result of clear vision, targeted policy, and bold execution.

From Bihta to the World: Bihar Exports Go Global

Thanks to the dry port in Bihta, Bihar-made products are now reaching international markets with ease. The state is not only exporting finished goods but is rapidly becoming a central hub for raw material processing in the region.

Whether it’s cotton for t-shirts or leather for boots, Bihar is now in the global supply chain.
